Royal Festival of the Horse Pro-Am Challenge
The Royal Festival of the Horse Professional-Amateur Challenge provides a unique opportunity for dressage amateurs to compete alongside some of the nations top riders.
Six amateur riders who have been invited to compete in this special competition will perform a medium level dressage test on their own horse. Following their test, the professional with which they will be paired by draw will perform the same test on the same horse.
The winning combination of horse and riders will be the one gaining the highest accumulation of points across the two tests.
This is a great opportunity for our amateur riders to experience the thrill of the big stage and to watch their own horses compete at the hands of a top professional.
All our amateur competitors are registered with British Dressage and are riding British Dressage registered horses with which they have achieved a minimum of 66% in a medium test within the last 18 months.
We would like to thank Classic Dressage for their kind sponsorship of the prizes for this competition. The winner will receive a Classic Dressage Bridle worth over £200 and the runners up will receive Classic Dressage leather head collars worth over £80.
Visit Classic Dressage at the Festival on their trade stand number 224.
Royal Festival of the Horse Freestyle Dressage to Music Championship
The cream of British Dressage riders including Charlotte du Jardin, Gareth and Rebecca Hughes will be performing an FEI Intermediate I Freestyle to music test, competing to impress our three judges to win a share of £4,000 of prize money.
Each rider will have 5 minutes to show off their horses paces to music. The riders have to include compulsory movements but can include these in whatever order they wish.
Compulsory movements include:
- Half pass in trot and canter
- Two and three time flying changes
- Canter pirouettes
The selection of music is entirely up to the riders and is usually chosen to suit the horses own unique rhythm.
The judges will be scoring the horse on how correctly each movement is performed and will take into account the artistic impression and creativity of the rider’s test. The rider with the most marks will be the winner.
